2009 Review
What was RFC up to over the last 12 months!
This was a very busy year as RFC began to fulfill it's original vision of reaching beyond the four walls of our traditional church and ministering to people. Here are just a few of the Outreaches and Ministries that we put our Faith and Hands to.
As For Me and My House Marriage Conference: (February 12 - 14)
We simulcast Redemption World Outreach Center's annual marriage conference from Greenville, SC. This annual Live event led by Apostle Ron and Hope Carpenter is a powerful life changing investment for married couples. The event takes place over the course of three days and includes general sessions, breakout sessions for men and women as well as a fabulous meal and dancing. It reminds us that there is more to marriage than the have to's.
1st Annual Freedom Conference: (February 24th)
We were honored to have Apostle Ron Carpenter jr. as our Speaker for this Conference. He is the Pastor of one of the fastest growing ministries in America as well as a sought after minister. He has recently hosted several broadcast of TBN and in 2009 his ministry secured it's own weekly timeslot. RWOC is now broadcast literally around the world.
Easter in the Park: (Easter Weekend)
10,000 plastic eggs stuffed with Candy! The event was held in the Park at the Forest City Housing Authority the Saturday before Easter. The numerous bounce rides, field day games, dunking booths and free food kept people coming all day long. Before the day was over we had fed, fellowshipped and loved on over 500 people.
Apostle Hope: (April)
Apostle Hope Carpenter followed up her husbands visit with a fantastic evening of Preaching. This dynamic woman of God delivered a fantastic Word in the way that only she could.
RFC's 7th Anniversary: (June)
To celebrate our 7th year we did what we love to do, Outreach! A good old fashioned southern Bar-B-Cue with all the trimmings was cooked up by some of the best cooks in the county and then we invited anybody and everybody. Again, we saw almost 500 people playing, eating and fellowshipping together on a beautiful Saturday afternoon.
1st Annual 4th of July Freedom Celebration: (July 3rd)
Wow! That was the Lead in the Rutherford Weekly as we threw one whale of a Block Party in Forest City. We were blessed to have the support of several local ministries and businesses in this large endeavor. The day consisted of fantastic Praise and Worship Teams, food vendors, church booths and more. The car show drew over 30 cars and hundreds of spectators inspite of it being a first year event. By the end of the day there were over 10,000 people who had attended the event.
Hot Nights & Cool Rides: (August)
We were honored to have the opportunity to be a part of one of the Largest Car Shows in the South and the one of the largest community events in Rutherford County. The RFC Praise Band played a two hour set made up of good old fashioned American Rock & Roll including Johnny B Good and Mustang Sally as well as some powerful Praise & Worship. We also had the opportunity to minister to the youth with bounce rides and other outreach events.
1st Annual Day of Worship: (August)
The Town of Forest City partnered with us to put together a day of Worship in Downtown. With Praise and Worship teams from churches of all sizes and denominations it was truly a special event. There was plenty to be done as vendors prepared great food, churches set up booths with lots of fun activities and bounce rides for the kids. The 1st annual event drew in the neighborhood of 2,000 people throughout the course of the day.
Toys 4 Tots: (December)
RFC partnered with Toys for Tots to help brighten the holidays for some wonderful local families. Working with the local housing authority we were able to identify and secure some great (New) toys for over 80 families and over 150 children ranging from birth to 15 years of age! In many cases these were the only presents that the children would receive at Christmas.
Angel Food: (Monthly)
A food ministry that help strecth a food budget it offers quality food and very reduced prices. Our AFM began with us ordering 2 boxes about 14 months ago and has grown into a major operation with orders in the neighborhood of 300 boxes per month. We have partnered with local agencies like DSS, United Way and the Housing Authority as well as the Rutherford County School System in order to reach as many people as possible with this ministry opportunity. The ministry takes a great effort on the partners here at RFC but they come through each month packing and delivering 300 boxes all over Rutherford and Polk Counties.
Thanks to everyone who lent a hand to these Outreaches and to those who are still standing now that the dust has finally Settled! We are expecting Bigger and Better in 2010.
Pastor James
