Ministry Vision 2010

The Hope Center of Rutherford County - An Outreach of Redemption Faith Center

Foundation Scriptures:

Jas 2:15   If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food, 16 And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit?

Pr 4:7 Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.

If a person lacks Spiritual and Natural Wisdom it will be difficult for them to possess the skills to prosper in this life.  If we are to make a positive and lasting impact on the world around us we must help relieve the burden of those in Lack while sowing into them the seeds of Wisdom in order to empower them to break the cycle of Poverty.  In doing so, we will destroy the pattern of destruction, depression and destitution that afflicts those without Hope.

The Hope Center is an Outreach of Redemption Faith Center that will strive to change lives by addressing three primary areas: (a) support the physical and emotional needs of hurting people/families in our community by providing access to basic needs such as food, clothing, and personal care (b) provide educational training in both job and life skills (c) provide faith and spiritual instruction and mentoring

Our Goal is to help transition families and individuals from a cycle of Poverty to a state of Prosperity by providing assistance in a positive and friendly environment in conjunction with offering education in the areas of job & life skills and spiritual maturity.

Ministries and Services to be offered:

Food Services:

  • Feed-A-Kid (Food program for children in need)
    • This is a Program that is Sponsored through Feed America (http://feedingamerica.org/our-network/network-programs/backpack-program.aspx). The BackPack Program is designed to meet the needs of hungry children at times when other resources are not available, such as weekends and school vacations. In addition to providing nutritious food to school children in need, some BackPack Programs provide extra food for younger siblings at home and others operate during the summer months when children are out of school and have limited access to free or reduced-priced meals.
  • Angel Food program (Low Cost food program open to everyone)
  • Kid’s Café (Cafeteria serving low income families)
    • Kids Cafe programs provide free meals and snacks to low-income children through a variety of community locations where children already congregate—such as Boys & Girls Clubs, churches or public schools. In addition to providing meals to kids, all Kids Cafe programs also offer a safe place, where under the supervision of trustworthy staff, a child can get involved in educational, recreational and social activities. http://feedingamerica.org/our-network/network-programs/kids-cafe.aspx
  • Senior Café (Cafeteria serving Senior Citizens)
    • The senior program was recently started by Feed America.  It operates very similar to the Kid’s Café. More information coming soon.
  • Abundant Foods (Food Pantry serving low income families)
    • This endeavor must be composed of Parts.  First we must provide an effective infrastructure to house, distribute and track the food.  This will include securing the proper facilities, establishing a system to qualify needy recipients and develop a systematic distribution plan.  Second, we will need to recruit and train committed and qualified volunteers and staff.  Finally, we must identify food sources in which to partner with to secure the food needed to meet the demand in our community.
    • Feeding America is the nation's leading domestic hunger-relief charity.  Our mission is to feed America's hungry through a nationwide network of member food banks and engage our country in the fight to end hunger. http://feedingamerica.org/about-us.aspx
  • Eden’s Garden (Community Garden & Fresh Produce serving low income families)
    • USDA supports community garden projects in a variety of ways, including grants provided through the USDA Cooperative State Research, Education, and Extension Service (CSREES), direct onsite technical assistance and guidance from Extension Service representatives, and guides developed by the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service and USDA Food and Nutrition Service to help community gardeners improve their production techniques. http://www.rurdev.usda.gov/rbs/pub/may09/green.htm
